Ages ago, in ancient times, a mighty seer named Isaiah spoke to us of a great deliverer (Isa. 9:6,7). To the Ancient Jews this deliverer would be Messiah, the promised King of all Worlds. He would deliver our Universe from the shadow of sin. To all the nations he would be the Prince of Peace, of Hope, of Dreams, of a New World filled with light. He would be the joy of every happy song. He came born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14). He came to set us free from Satan’s spell. He was crucified for our transgressions but God raised him from the dead. The old humanity is on the way out (II Cor. 5:17). The new is on the way in. Christmas lights, Christmas carols, Christmas gifts and Christmas cheer all point to our joyful hope in Christ our promised King. Sound the trumpet in Zion! God is at work this Christmas still, transforming our world through the babe of
Bethlehem (Micah 4:2-4). Merry Christmas! Christ is born!
